HDR evolution of “hopes of safety”

August 24, 2009

Hey There!!

Going to run through the very simple processing work  I use on much of HDR (maybe a little psuedo to you technical folks) photo work

Ok, so here is the original RAW photo out of my Nikon D100

This is the scene exactly as I saw it through my lense at 10 mph

Camera settings I used to capture the orignal image (Aperture Priority)

exposure 1/1667

aperture f/3.5

focal length 28mm

iso 200

First Step:

Photomatix Tonemapping

I like the color and detail that has been ferried to the surface, but more punch is needed.

Second Step: (and final in the case of this photo)

Photoshop work…

[101/365] hopes of safety

Using Nik Software to contrast the tones and brighten the colors a little.. Subtle use of noise reduction in the sky and sign (my 6mp cam leaves me with some harsh noise at times)

Make sure to View Large On Black … its the only way you can grasp the details

This is the string of work I do for single RAW files… A full on auto bracketed 3 (or more) exposure HDR is something else entirely

Let me know what you think… What I should change… Or how I can do it better…
