ThirdDesign Today #3 Bokeh?

February 18, 2009

Our Third (today) Post! Our topic BOKEH!

Since getting my d100 I have fallen in love with Bokeh in my photography. Bokeh is derived from Japanese, a noun boke 暈け, meaning “blurred or fuzzy” (Thats what good old wiki said… and they are without blemish.. so listen)

Here are a few examples..

The photographers of flickr have a celebration every Wednesday in the name of Bokeh.(… ever seen HBW?) A few of my contacts have become quite proficient in the art of Bokeh here they are..

Amanda Mac. approaches photography with a very certain style and creativity… Who likes bokehhhh?!

Fabio Sasso of Abduzeedo.com with his “digital bokeh”

Mr.Moog of flickr fame, capturing some bokeh for Happy Bokeh Wednesday (This hit number 1 in flickr “explore”)

There are many examples of wonderful blurry bokeh beauty abouding on the wordwide web.

Here are a few links to the Flickr groups that carry all Bokeh, all the time! (click the image to access the group)

Bokeh Photography- A very fine artsy group of great Bokeh

365 Bokeh – One Bokeh photo from every member everyday for the space of a year (creativity is “created” in these groups)

Bokeh Wednesday – Happy Bokeh Wednesday shots are featured here every Wednesday

Bokeh is also found in movies and music videos.

At the midpoint and end of the music video for “See You Soon” by Coldplay we see Bokeh implemented along with the music…

Perhaps what I like about bokeh is somewhat different than what you are explaining through these pictures. The pictures you show are excellent.
The bokeh I like are ones that add clarity to the main subject as the background falls in an ethereal blur.
This is example of what I mean:

I do enjoy the photographs you presented, and thank you for the excellent post.
