Lennys Nikon and the Photrade Phenomenon
Hey There…
ThirdDesign is ready to take off. So much news. We got a Nikon from my man Lenny ( feature coming soon?), oh and we found it… Photrade.com. This site looks to be the answer to our print woes.
I had been shooting with the S1000fd for a while and I was quite pleased with the performance. The worry for me has always been the transition from my eye to a piece of equipment. Photography should never come down a tool, a pricetag, or a logo. The little Fuji did a good job in transition, but still lacked a little … something.
So being the semi-techsavy 21 year-old that I am, I enlisted the help of ebay and craigslist. Now, you know as well as I do that there are perils to be had in such endeavors. Such as: false information, products from a fake city just outside of Tokyo, and the ever present shipping problems. Craiglist is much safer with the potential to be much more dangerous. Good decisions…
Over at my local craigslist page I found a pretty good variety of cameras and lenses. The prices were pretty high, and I wasn’t getting answers to my questions. On these sites there is a certain “rush” you get when you see a product you want at a super price within 10 miles of your home. Yea, its kind of unique. I saw my, now beloved, listing for a DSLR Nikon D100 with a Nikkor AF 28-105mm lens, with pluses of a bag, charger, and 2-2gig cards. I read the description over and over, looking for the “works ok, but shutter release is broken” or “lens has permanent marker scribble covering all parts and smells of tomatoes”. Things like that are so common on sites like craigslist, but in-spite of my worst imaginations this one seemed totally legit. I sent the email and got the call. Meet my man Lenny that day and got the D100, and a few days later I picked up the lens.
A little bit of a learning curve… but I think I’m picking it up pretty quickly. Check some of the new shots out below!
Things are starting to roll out pretty smoothly. The even BIGGER news is focused more on the business side of all this “inspiration and perspective”.
I have recently created a Gallery/Storefront on Photrade.com. Here you can order prints ranging from wallet size to full poster prints. This is the most cost effiecent and shipping proficent method I have found so far.
So Please visit this link www.photrade.com/thirddesign and order a shot or two!
Now I have’nt fully stocked this yet, so if you are looking for a different shot you can check out my full portfolio at flickr.com/thirddesign. From there you can pick the shot you would like and send me a email at robertb@thirddesign.net . Stating which photo you want and I will upload the selected shots to my Photrade gallery. Go back to the gallery and order all your heart desires.
Thanks,
RobertB
